The food intolerance is a Type-III(delayed hypersensitivity) immune response, a relatively gradual process the symptoms of which start within a few hours to few days in comparison to allergy which is a Type-I(immediate) immune response where the symptoms start within minutes of exposure to the food. The symptoms of food intolerance are mild as against that of allergy which can be severe and fatal.

It can be seen that a person has many foods of the same category under the elevated zone. This can be due to immune reaction against the specific food protein present in all the foods belonging to that category. For example milk protein present in cow’s milk can be responsible for goat milk or sheep milk to come positive. Similarly if egg white or egg yolk are coming positive, then it is likely that a particular egg protein which is common in both egg white and yolk is responsible for such condition.

Yes this can be possible due to the leaky gut. In such a situation the physiology of the gut is not healthy and results in leakage of too many food particles out of the gut rather than getting digested inside the digestive tract. Such patients must consult a gasto-enterologist for further workup.

This is a common observation amongst many people. This is seen particularly for the foods that are regularly consumed and suddenly stopped probably because your body was used to the foods and since they have been stopped completely, the body is reacting in the form of withdrawal symptoms. This will continue to happen for around 4-6 weeks after which there will be a drastic improvement in the symptoms.

The foods that are borderline, can be rotated in a sequential manner and can be consumed keeping a gap of around 4-5 days. This will not allow the immune system to trigger a response easily and avoid developing any symptoms.

Yes, this can happen. There are many food proteins and extracts which are present in many other food products, the content of which one is unaware. For instance if Cod is coming positive in a person who never had a cod fish, then it can be possible if that person has been taking any sort of cod oil extract or any capsule, where the cover of it is made up of cod extract.

No. food intolerance is based on the immune response of the body against the particular food product. If one avoids consuming the positive food for a long time, the immune response will be highly suppressed and the food will fall in the Borderline or Normal category next time when a food intolerance test is performed.

Yes this is possible particularly in persons with known allergy to particular food. As already said food intolerance is IgG based test and so food allergy which is an IgE based reaction can come normal in food intolerance test. Hence it is recommended that a person who is known allergic to a particular food must completely avoid the food even if the food intolerance report is coming normal.

This is true in case the person is actually suffering from any organic health problem. For example if the patient is suffering from joint aches which is related to rheumatoid Arthritis(RA), then even after avoiding all the problem foods, the person may still have the symptoms since (RA) is not related to food intolerance.

No. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that results in a severe reaction to a protein, “Gluten” which is found in wheat, oats, barley and rye. The food test for wheat does not contain gluten, so a positive test doesn’t mean gluten intolerance or celiac disease but significantly only wheat intolerance.
